Not2DaySugar was inspired by the founder Gail C. Bussell, who went into ketoacidosis on January 5, 2020. When she got to the ER her blood sugar was 687 after the third try. Her A1C was 14.2. Had Gail gone to sleep the doctor said it would have been her last sleep. After being in ICU for three days and leaving the hospital she was taking insulin five times a day. Her health care providers worked together as a team and sent her home with a plan. She followed up with her primary care provider who put together a team of Behavior Specialists, a Dietician and Weight Management Specialist. During this time she also experienced vision problems where her eyesight changed for the worst. Gail's skin on her feet began to crack and peel. She followed the doctor's and other health care providers directions to the fullest and attended the weekly weight management class and never missed a session. By the end of March 2020 she was insulin free, her vision was restored better than it was and her skin was healed. She had an accountability partner, walked regularly, measured her foods, ate healthy, wrote down all her foods, and kept count of her daily carbohydrates which was no more than 30-45 carbs a meal. She also weighed daily, checked her blood sugar before every meal. Her meals and snack were planned and she prepared a care bag to take with her when she would walk and run errands. While all these things were great she trusted God and prayed continuously believing that poking herself five times a day was not going to be her new normal but only temporary. Gail remains committed and has not gotten off the path and has come off all medications including her high blood pressure and cholesterol medications. She became "SELF MANAGED" took control of her blood sugar and does not allow her blood sugar to control her. People began to inquire about her success and the rest is history and now you have Not2DaySugar.
